Barry Manilow Reveals Lung Cancer Diagnosis, Reschedules January Concerts

Singer and entertainer Barry Manilow has revealed he has been diagnosed with lung cancer and will reschedule his January arena concerts while he undergoes surgery and recovery.

In a statement shared on social media, the 82-year-old artist said the diagnosis came after he battled weeks of bronchitis and lingering symptoms. Although he had returned to performing at the Westgate Las Vegas, his doctor ordered an MRI as a precaution. That scan revealed a cancerous spot on his left lung that will need to be surgically removed.

Manilow described the discovery as “pure luck” and credited his doctor for catching the cancer early. According to a press release, the surgery is scheduled for late December, following the conclusion of his “Christmas: A Gift of Love” concerts. Doctors have recommended approximately one month of recovery after the procedure.

The singer said doctors do not believe the cancer has spread and that further testing is underway to confirm that assessment. Manilow noted that his treatment plan does not include chemotherapy or radiation, joking that recovery will involve “chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”

Because of the surgery and recovery timeline, Manilow announced that his January shows will be rescheduled. New concert dates are planned from February through April. He apologized to fans for the inconvenience, saying he and his team were also looking forward to the January performances.

Manilow closed his message by wishing fans a happy holiday season and urging people to seek medical attention if they experience even minor symptoms, emphasizing the importance of early detection.
