Hollywood Minute: 'Marty Supreme' Scores Big, Netflix Renews 'Last Samurai Standing,' and Miley Cyrus Heads to Palm Springs
Timothée Chalamet's "Marty Supreme" had a supreme debut weekend. The drama opened in ninth place with $875,000—playing in just six theaters. That works out to nearly $146,000 per screen, the best per-theater average of any movie this year. The film expands to wide release on Christmas Day (December 25).
"Last Samurai Standing" is still standing strong. Netflix announced it's renewing the action series for a second season. The streamer says the show, which premiered last month, has landed in its top 10 in 88 countries.
And Miley Cyrus is set to receive the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival for her song "Dream as One" from Avatar: Fire and Ash. The awards ceremony takes place January 3.
