Palm Springs Urges Residents to Sign Up for Community Alerts Ahead of Heavy Rainfall
With heavy rainfall expected across the Coachella Valley this week, the City of Palm Springs is urging residents to sign up for its community alert system to stay informed during severe weather and other emergencies.
Palm Springs uses a citywide emergency notification system powered by Everbridge. The system is designed to deliver timely and urgent alerts to registered residents, no matter where they are. Notifications can be sent as text messages, voice calls, or electronic alerts to home phones, cell phones, and computers.
City officials say the alerts may include life-saving information such as fire evacuation notices, shelter locations, transportation updates during disasters, and other critical public safety messages. During storms, alerts can also notify residents about flooding concerns, road closures, or other weather-related hazards.
Residents can register for Palm Springs community alerts by visiting the Palm Springs City Government website. From there, click on the Government tab and select the Register for Community Alerts option to sign up.
Palm Springs is not the only local city offering emergency notification systems. Other Coachella Valley cities with similar alert programs include Indio, Cathedral City, La Quinta, and Coachella. In addition, Riverside County offers a countywide system known as Alert RivCo, which provides emergency notifications for areas throughout the county.
Officials recommend that residents sign up for both city and county alerts when available, especially ahead of severe weather, to ensure they receive the most up-to-date safety information.
