An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Tuesday, December 23, 2025!
As a low pressure system moves South along the Coast, it will direct an Atmospheric River of moisture over the Southwest beginning tonight and continuing through Thursday.
The Coachella Valley may see a few light showers later today with the heaviest rainfall occurring to our West and North.
The highest precipitation totals will occur on Wednesday when the Valley will see rainfall amounts anywhere between 0.40" to -- quite possibly -- one-inch.
Much of SoCal will still be dealing with rain on Christmas Day while the Valley will be limited to just a few hit-and-miss showers.
The snow level will begin quite high at 10,000-feet Wednesday morning, then drop to around 8100-feet on Thursday. This translates into rain on Christmas Eve turning to snow on Christmas Day.
Because of a forecast featuring widespread rain, a Flood Watch has been posted for a large area of the Southland beginning tonight and continuing through Wednesday. This advisory includes the Coachella Valley where flooding due to mountain runoff will be a concern, especially for communities near the foothills of area mountains.
