Former Yucca Valley quarterback Michael Ramos shot, not expected to survive.

Michael Ramos Jr., a graduate of Yucca Valley High School, will be taken off of life support this week. Ramos was shot during an altercation in Yucca Valley Sunday night.

The Ramos family released the following statement:

"On December 21, Michael selflessly attempted to break up a fight at a party when he was tragically shot in the head. He is currently being cared for in the Intensive Care Unit at Desert Regional Medical Center. After extensive testing, doctors have determined that Michael has no brain activity and is declared legally brain-dead as a result of the gunshot wound. The family is now asking for privacy, prayers and support during this heartbreaking time as they spend the last 48 hours with Michael before he is taken off life support."

A GoFundMe account has been established. Any support is deeply appreciated.
