Colorado Man Says On-Duty USPS Mail Carrier Attacked Him Over Parking Dispute

A Denver man says a simple conversation about unsafe parking turned into a violent encounter with an on-duty United States Postal Service mail carrier, leaving him with serious injuries and long-lasting emotional trauma.

The incident happened Friday afternoon outside Neko Ramen & Rice on Colorado Boulevard. The man, who works nearby and asked not to be identified out of fear, says he noticed a USPS van parked diagonally across multiple spaces, partially blocking his own vehicle in a busy parking lot. He says the area is particularly dangerous, noting he had been struck by a car there just one day earlier.

According to the victim, when he calmly pointed out the unsafe parking, the mail carrier allegedly responded with slurs and profanity before entering the restaurant to deliver a package. The man says he followed the carrier inside to explain why the situation was dangerous, but before he could finish speaking, the carrier charged at him.

The victim says he was head-butted and repeatedly punched, suffering a broken cheekbone, stitches in his forehead, and possible nerve damage to his jaw. Witnesses inside the restaurant described the attack as sudden and unprovoked. The mail carrier fled the scene, and the victim managed to photograph the USPS van as it drove away.

The man reported the incident to Denver Police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and later identified the suspect in a lineup. He says police issued a warrant for the carrier’s arrest, though Denver Police say the investigation is ongoing and have not confirmed whether a warrant has been issued. No arrests have been announced.

In a statement, USPS said it is aware of the alleged incident, is cooperating fully with investigators, and does not tolerate behavior that compromises public safety. The agency emphasized that all employees undergo background checks and are expected to uphold high standards while serving the public.

As he recovers, the victim says he remains unable to eat solid food and worries about permanent scarring. He says the incident has deeply shaken his trust and sense of security.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
