Sunny Stretch for Palm Springs Before New Year’s Rain Returns
Palm Springs and communities across the Coachella Valley are set to enjoy a stretch of comfortable desert weather as Southern California transitions into a brief dry pattern to close out the year.
Any lingering cumulus clouds along the coastal mountain slopes are expected to clear overnight, leaving mostly clear skies for the desert region. From Sunday through Tuesday, a drying trend will dominate the forecast, bringing sunny days and seasonable conditions to Palm Springs and surrounding valley cities.
Periods of weak to moderate Santa Ana winds may develop during this time, occasionally becoming gusty but also helping to keep skies clear. The offshore flow associated with these winds will allow temperatures to gradually warm, with the mildest conditions expected Monday and Tuesday—ideal weather for outdoor activities and holiday travel in the Coachella Valley.
Looking ahead to the New Year, changes are on the horizon. A low-pressure system approaching from the southwest could bring a return of unsettled weather beginning around Wednesday, with a chance of rain extending into late week and possibly through next weekend. While details on rainfall amounts remain uncertain, the shift marks the end of the dry spell and a return to more typical winter conditions for Southern California.
For now, residents and visitors in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley can enjoy several days of sunshine and mild temperatures before welcoming the New Year with a possible return of rain.
