93-Year-Old Woman Dies After Two-Vehicle Crash in Palm Springs
Palm Springs police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a 93-year-old woman Sunday afternoon.
The collision happened around 3:24 p.m. at the intersection of South El Cielo Road and Kirk Douglas Way. According to police, a gray Honda SUV was traveling southbound and attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Kirk Douglas Way. The Honda entered the path of a white Mazda SUV heading northbound on El Cielo Road, and the two vehicles collided.
The 93-year-old woman driving the Honda was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. She later died from those injuries. Her identity is being withheld while the Riverside County Coroner's Office notifies next of kin.
The driver of the Mazda remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
