Inmate Found Dead at Banning Correctional Facility; Investigation Ongoing
An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, 46-year-old Quadir Boykin of Menifee was found unresponsive inside a housing unit cell earlier this morning.
Correctional deputies, jail medical staff, and paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but Boykin was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say he was awaiting trial on charges including arson.
Sheriff’s investigators and the coroner responded to the facility, and authorities report there are no signs of foul play at this time. The investigation into Boykin’s death remains ongoing.
