Most Palm Springs Roads Reopen After Holiday Storm; Indian Canyon Remains Closed

Five days after a Christmas Eve storm brought flash flooding to the Coachella Valley, most closed roadways in Palm Springs have reopened. Vista Chino and Gene Autry Trail are both back in service after crews finished cleanup over the weekend.

Indian Canyon Road remains the last holdout. The road has been closed since Wednesday as workers clear sand and debris from the wash crossing. In Palm Springs, the closure runs between Sunrise Parkway and Garnet Avenue. The city of Desert Hot Springs has not provided an update on their end of Indian Canyon. Last week, it was shut down between Pierson Boulevard and Mission Lakes Boulevard.

The city of Palm Springs posted photos on social media over the weekend showing current conditions and ongoing cleanup efforts.

Drivers traveling between Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs should continue using alternate routes until Indian Canyon reopens.
