George Clooney and Family Granted French Citizenship

George Clooney, his wife Amal, and their twin children are now French citizens. The French government announced the citizenship decrees last weekend.

The Clooneys purchased a property in France in 2021—what the actor has described as "a farm"—which serves as the family's primary residence. In a recent interview, the Oscar winner said concerns about raising children in Hollywood culture influenced the move. "In France they're not on their iPads, you know?" Clooney said.

It's unclear whether George Clooney has retained his U.S. citizenship. Amal Clooney, a human rights lawyer, was born in Lebanon and raised in the United Kingdom. The couple's twins, now eight years old, were born in London.
