Flooding Forces Road Closures Across Palm Springs
Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has caused flooding across Palm Springs, forcing the closure of several major roadways and prompting at least one water rescue. Indian Canyon Drive was shut down earlier today after rising floodwaters made the roadway unsafe, with Palm Springs rescue crews responding to assist a stranded individual around noon.
City officials say flooding has also led to closures at North Gene Autry Trail, East Vista Chino and Araby Street, both closed at the wash due to fast-moving water. Drivers are being urged to avoid flooded intersections and never attempt to drive through standing water, as conditions can change rapidly.
Officials continue to monitor the situation and say road closures will remain in place until it is safe to reopen them. Updates will be provided as weather conditions improve and crews assess roadway safety.
