Palm Springs International Film Festival Kicks Off, Bringing Hollywood and Global Cinema to the Desert
The 37th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival officially begins today, drawing filmmakers, celebrities, and movie lovers from across the globe. Running through January 12, the festival will screen more than 170 films from over 70 countries, including 53 premieres, at multiple venues throughout Palm Springs.
The festival’s signature event, the Palm Springs International Film Awards, takes place Jan. 3 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. This year’s honorees and attendees include some of Hollywood’s biggest names, such as Timothée Chalamet, Kate Hudson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Miley Cyrus. The awards are widely seen as a bellwether for the upcoming Academy Awards season.
Beyond the red carpet, the festival emphasizes international storytelling, education, and community outreach. Programs like the Desert Views Jury and Young Cineastes Jury engage local adults and high school students, while Family Day offers free screenings and activities for all ages.
NBC Palm Springs will provide live coverage from the red carpet and throughout the festival, bringing viewers exclusive interviews, highlights, and behind-the-scenes access to one of the desert’s most celebrated annual events.
