FAA Ground Stop Lifted at Palm Springs International Airport, Flights Gradually Resuming

Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) began gradually resuming normal flight operations Saturday afternoon after a Federal Aviation Administration ground stop impacting Southern California airspace was lifted.
Airport officials announced around 4 p.m. that both departures and arrivals would slowly restart, cautioning travelers that delays are still expected as airlines and air traffic control work to normalize schedules.
Earlier in the day, the FAA ground stop halted departing flights at PSP, while some arriving aircraft were able to land. Several inbound flights were diverted, leading to widespread delays and schedule disruptions. Airport officials emphasized the issue was not specific to Palm Springs and affected multiple airports across Southern California.
Throughout the disruption, PSP officials said they were working closely with airline partners and the FAA, which was managing the situation. While the exact reason for the ground stop was not immediately disclosed, officials advised passengers to remain patient as air traffic resumes.
Travelers are encouraged to monitor their flight status directly with their airline for the most up-to-date information, as delays may continue into the evening while operations stabilize.
PSP officials said additional updates would be shared as needed.
