DOJ Misses Deadline on Epstein Files, Millions of Documents Still Under Review
The Justice Department has released more than 12,000 documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, but officials say they're nowhere near finished—over two million additional records still need to be reviewed.
Under a law passed by Congress late last year, the DOJ was expected to release all Epstein-related materials by December. That deadline has now slipped as officials work through a backlog of papers, photos, videos, and audio files stored in the FBI's system.
Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.
