Gravity-Defying Detroit Lions Cake Sculpture Draws Crowds to Michigan Bakery

A Michigan bakery is drawing crowds with a gravity-defying cake sculpture honoring two Detroit Lions standouts.

The fully edible, life-sized display is on view at The Home Bakery in downtown Rochester, Michigan. It features wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown suspended from the ceiling in a Superman pose, while running back Jahmyr Gibbs crouches below in a Spider-Man stance. The sculpture recreates one of the Detroit Lions’ most memorable touchdown celebrations of the season.

Bakery owner Heather Tocco says she and her team of about 24 people spent more than 400 hours designing and building the elaborate cake. The structure required careful engineering, including the use of Rice Krispies and cake layers to support the figures. Four men were needed to secure the St. Brown figure to the ceiling safely.

Tocco says the project pushed her creative and technical limits but was worth the effort. This is the second year she has created a Lions-themed window display. Last year’s featured St. Brown’s headstand celebration, but she wanted to go even bigger this time.

Despite the Lions missing the playoffs this season, Tocco believes the team’s highlights are still worth celebrating. She says the display is about honoring memorable moments and building excitement for what fans hope will be an even bigger season ahead.

The cake has become a local attraction, with visitors stopping to take photos and admire the craftsmanship. Many say the display showcases both the bakery’s talent and the community’s pride in the Lions.

Tocco says her favorite part of creating these large-scale displays is seeing how they bring people together. The bakery plans to keep the cake on display through the end of February, and Tocco is considering making Lions-themed creations an annual tradition.
