Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory to Celebrate 30 Years

A Coachella Valley milestone is happening this week as the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory celebrates its 30th birthday.

The anniversary celebration takes place Wednesday and offers a full slate of activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy games, music, and a special noontime star tour, during which the observatory will transform into a planetarium — allowing guests to “reach for the stars” even during the day.

Family-friendly events include a morning story time for kids, hands-on activities throughout the day, and stargazing opportunities later in the evening. The celebration will also feature a piano concert at night.

Library officials say the milestone highlights three decades of learning, exploration, and community engagement.
