An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Wednesday, January 7, 2026!
As a low pressure center moves across Southern California, winds will become an issue later today into Friday morning.
On-shore winds will begin to ramp-up tonight into Thursday morning. As the low moves to our East, those Westerly winds will switch to a strong Santa Ana flow Thursday evening into early Friday morning.
Generally, a Wind Advisory has been issued for the Coachella Valley while a High Wind Watch has been posted for the San Gorgonio Pass. Both begin this evening and run through Thursday. See images for details.
This disturbance will also trigger a few light showers and thunderstorms into this afternoon. While the bulk of precipitation will fall over San Diego and Imperial counties, a few spill-over sprinkles are possible in the Valley this morning.
Valley high temps remain in the 60s though Sunday followed by 70s on Monday and Tuesday. As an upper-level ridge of high pressure builds over the Southwest, we may experience midday numbers around 80° on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
Stay tuned!
