Human Remains Found in Salton City; Imperial County Sheriff's Office Seeks Public's Help

The Imperial County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help after human remains were discovered in Salton City back in December.

Deputies responded to a report of suspicious circumstances around 4:30 p.m. on December 21 and found what was later confirmed to be a human leg. The Sheriff's Office Investigations Division has taken over the case.

A search of the surrounding area, both on foot and by air, turned up no additional remains or evidence. The remains have not been identified, and investigators are still working to determine how they came to be at the location.

Investigators are asking anyone who knows of a person who has recently gone missing—or someone who was traveling through or visiting the Salton City area and hasn't been heard from—to contact law enforcement.
