Monroe Street Paving Project Begins in Indio
Road crews in Indio began paving work on Monroe Street this morning as part of the city's annual street improvement program. The project covers the stretch between Avenue 48 and Avenue 52.
Work runs from January 7 through January 15, weekdays only, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Crews will complete the job in sections to limit disruptions to traffic flow.
The project uses a grind and overlay process, which removes deteriorated asphalt layers and replaces them with fresh pavement. The work is funded through SB1, California's gas tax program dedicated to local road maintenance.
Drivers should expect delays in the area and consider using alternate routes. Street parking is not allowed in active work zones during construction hours.
