Trump Suggests U.S. Involvement in Venezuela Could Be Long-Term

The United States could be involved with Venezuela for an extended period, according to comments from President Donald Trump in a recent interview with The New York Times.

When asked how long his administration would seek direct oversight of the country, Trump declined to give a specific timeline, saying, “Only time will tell.” Pressed further on whether that involvement could last a year or more, Trump responded, “I would say much longer.”

During the nearly two-hour interview, Trump also said the rebuilding process would be profitable and indicated it would include access to Venezuela’s oil resources.
