ICE Agent’s Cellphone Video Shows Fatal Minneapolis Shooting Confrontation
Newly released video recorded on a cellphone by an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement offers a close-range view of the moments leading up to a fatal shooting in Minneapolis.
A Department of Homeland Security official confirmed the video, which was obtained by CNN and first published by Alpha News. The footage was captured by ICE agent Jonathan Ross during a traffic-related confrontation that ended with the death of Renee Good.
The video begins with Ross standing in front of Good’s SUV, which was stopped perpendicular to the street and blocking traffic. As Ross walks toward the driver’s side, Good is seen with her window down, speaking calmly and telling him she is not angry. Ross does not respond.
Audio in the video also captures comments from Becca Good, the passenger, who addresses Ross while holding a cellphone toward his face. At one point, another officer can be heard ordering the driver to exit the vehicle.
The video then shows the SUV reversing and turning away from where Ross is standing. As the vehicle moves forward, Ross is heard exclaiming before three gunshots ring out in quick succession. The actual shooting is not visible, as the camera angle shifts upward, but the sound of gunfire is clear.
An earlier bystander video suggests the SUV may have made contact with Ross as it surged forward, though the cellphone footage does not clearly show impact. The SUV is later seen crashing into a parked vehicle.
The video was shared online by JD Vance, who said it supports claims that the officer’s life was in danger and that the shooting was an act of self-defense.
Authorities have not announced final conclusions, and the incident remains under review as investigators continue examining video evidence and witness accounts.
