Friends of the Children Coachella Valley to Host Inaugural “For the Love of Children” Event

Friends of the Children Coachella Valley is inviting the community to its inaugural signature event, “For the Love of Children,” taking place next month. The event will be held on February 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will highlight the organization’s mission to support children and families through long-term, relationship-based mentoring.

Friends of the Children is a national organization with more than 30 years of experience serving children across the country and is now expanding its impact into the Coachella Valley. The nonprofit provides 12 years of consistent mentoring, beginning in early childhood, for children who face systemic barriers to success.

Executive Director Karrie Schaaf emphasized that the organization’s role is to strengthen families, not replace them.

“We advocate and provide resources for the families so that they can better parent,” the executive director said. “We’re not trying to be a parent. We’re not trying to replace them. We want to provide parents with supportive skills and community resources so they can be the best parent possible for their child.”

The February event will celebrate community connection and a shared commitment to investing in the future of Coachella Valley youth.
