Press Conference Planned Over Alleged Toxic Mold Exposure at John Kelly Elementary School

A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday morning to address allegations of toxic black mold exposure at John Kelly Elementary School, with attorneys claiming students were knowingly exposed to hazardous conditions.

According to attorneys representing several families, special needs students — including autistic, nonverbal, and medically fragile children — were allegedly exposed to toxic black mold while attending the school. They say the exposure resulted in illness and that the school district had prior knowledge of the conditions but failed to take appropriate action.

Multiple lawsuits are now being filed on behalf of affected students. Attorneys say the press conference will include evidence supporting claims of mold contamination, as well as documentation alleging the district was aware of the problem before families were notified.

The attorneys say they are calling for accountability, transparency, and immediate corrective action from the school district. They also confirm that parents plan to hold protests in support of the affected children.

The press conference is set to begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Attorneys representing the families are expected to speak in detail about the allegations and the legal action being taken.

NBC Palm Springs will have continued coverage. Viewers can hear more from the attorney representing the parents tonight at 6 o’clock.
