Three Road Projects to Know About This Week in Palm Springs and Palm Desert

The Coachella Valley has several active construction projects that could affect your commute this week, with work happening in both Palm Springs and Palm Desert.

In Palm Springs, crews on the South Palm Canyon Bridge Project are shifting to overnight work. South Palm Canyon Drive will be closed between East Sunny Dunes Road and Mesquite Avenue from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. through Friday. Traffic is being detoured to Belardo Road during those hours.

Over in Palm Desert, the Gerald Ford Drive Improvement Project is in full swing between Cook Street and Paseo Del Corazon. The eastbound roadway is completely closed, with one lane open heading westbound. The project is expected to wrap up in May.

Also in Palm Desert, a new traffic signal is now operational at Cook Street and Marketplace, near the Albertsons just north of Country Club Drive. The signal was installed to accommodate development in the area, including the surf park near Desert Willow.

With tourist season underway and more visitors on the roads, CV Sync Program Manager Kris Gunterson recommends planning ahead and leaving early when possible. Learn more at cv-sync.com.
