Battle of the Badges Returns to Fantasy Springs to Support Youth Programs Across Southern California

The Battle of the Badges is back this week at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, bringing together police officers, firefighters, correctional officers, and military personnel for the annual charity boxing event.

The event raises money for mentorship, educational, and recreational programs benefiting youth across Southern California. Proceeds support Cops for Kids and Communities, an organization that works throughout Riverside and San Bernardino counties providing vocational services, scholarships, mentoring, and sports programs ranging from boxing to pickleball.

Organizers say the event is about more than just what happens in the ring.

Cops for Kids and Communities was founded years ago, with Battle of the Badges serving as its very first fundraiser. Since then, the organization has continued to grow its reach, focusing on connecting at-risk youth with positive role models and opportunities.

Several fighters took part in a media event ahead of fight night, sharing what the experience means to them. Many say training alongside community members helps build trust and opens conversations that go beyond the sport itself. Some fighters also shared personal stories of growing up in community boxing and Police Activities League programs before later returning as mentors themselves.

Organizers describe the event as “community service with boxing gloves,” emphasizing the long-term impact mentorship can have on a young person’s life.
