Palm Springs Man Pleads Not Guilty in CV Link Stabbing Case
A Palm Springs man has pleaded not guilty in connection with a stabbing that happened along the CV Link late last year.
Fifty-three-year-old Jacob Masters is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse, along with allegations of causing great bodily injury. The charges stem from an incident that police say occurred on December 31 along the CV Link between Cathedral Canyon Drive and Golf Club Drive.
According to investigators, the attack was unprovoked. Police allege Masters followed the victim, put on a ski mask, and then stabbed the man before fleeing the area. Authorities say the victim survived the attack and is currently recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Masters was later identified as the suspect and taken into custody. His bail has been set at $100,000, and he remains in custody as the case moves forward through the court system.
No additional details about a potential motive have been released. Investigators have not indicated whether the victim and suspect knew each other prior to the incident.
The case remains under investigation.
