CNN Poll: Majority of Americans Oppose US Taking Control of Greenland

A new CNN poll shows that most Americans oppose the United States attempting to take control of Greenland.
According to the poll, conducted by SSRS, about 75 percent of Americans say they do not want the US to pursue control of Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark. The findings highlight broad resistance to the idea across the political spectrum.
Nearly all Democrats surveyed said they oppose the proposal. About half of Republican respondents also said they are against the US taking control of Greenland. Roughly one-quarter of Americans, however, expressed support for President Donald Trump’s position on the issue.
Trump has previously stated that he wants the United States to take over Greenland, citing its strategic geographic location and its rich natural resources. Greenland sits in a key position in the Arctic, an area of growing global interest due to shipping routes, mineral access, and national security considerations.
Leaders in both Denmark and Greenland have repeatedly and firmly rejected any suggestion of US control. Officials from both governments have emphasized that Greenland is not for sale and that decisions about its future rest with its people.
The poll results suggest that while the issue draws attention for its geopolitical implications, most Americans are not in favor of expanding US control over the territory.
