Spotify Announces Price Increase for Premium, Student, Duo and Family Plans

is raising prices for all of its paid subscription plans, with the changes set to take effect next month.
The streaming platform announced Thursday that the cost of its Premium plan will increase by one dollar, moving from $12 to $13 per month. Student subscribers will also see a one-dollar increase, with monthly pricing rising from $6 to $7.
Spotify’s Duo and Family plans will see a larger adjustment, with prices increasing by two dollars per month. The company says the changes will apply across the board beginning in February.
This marks Spotify’s first price adjustment since mid-2024. While the company did not cite a specific reason for the increase, similar price hikes across the streaming industry have been tied to rising operational costs and investments in content, technology, and platform features.
Spotify remains one of the most widely used music streaming services globally, offering millions of songs, podcasts, and audiobooks to users on both free and paid tiers. Subscribers will begin seeing the updated pricing reflected in their monthly bills once the changes take effect.
