Far-Right Activist Jake Lang Chased Away by Counterdemonstrators During Small Minneapolis Rally

A small rally led by far-right activist Jake Lang in downtown Minneapolis ended early after being overwhelmed by a much larger group of counterdemonstrators, according to reports from CNN and local authorities.

Lang, a right-wing influencer and one of the January 6 defendants who received clemency from President Donald Trump, organized the demonstration Saturday under the name “March Against Minnesota Fraud.” Prior to the event, Lang posted on social media that he planned to burn a Quran on the steps of City Hall, though a CNN affiliate later confirmed that did not happen.

Video and witness accounts indicate Lang’s group was quickly outnumbered by counterprotesters. Lang appeared with visible bruises and scrapes as he left the area and later claimed on social media that he had been assaulted. Minneapolis police told CNN they issued a dispersal order but made no arrests, stating the crowd eventually dispersed without further incident. Authorities said they are still reviewing whether any assaults occurred.

The demonstration comes amid heightened tensions in Minneapolis following the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, by an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier this month. That incident sparked protests locally and nationwide, with critics condemning aggressive immigration enforcement tactics.

In response to ongoing unrest, the Pentagon has ordered approximately 1,500 active-duty soldiers to prepare for potential deployment to Minnesota, while state officials have already mobilized the National Guard.

Lang, who is currently running for U.S. Senate in Florida, has not responded to CNN’s request for comment.
