Palm Springs Police Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run

Palm Springs police are searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run that left one person dead early Sunday morning.

Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to reports of someone lying in the roadway near the intersection of East Vista Chino and Avenida Caballeros. They found an unresponsive adult in the eastbound lanes who had apparently been struck by a vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pedestrian's identity has not been released. Investigators have no suspect or vehicle information at this time, and the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.

The roadway was temporarily closed while the Traffic Division conducted its investigation but has since reopened.
