Trump Purchased Millions in Netflix, Discovery Bonds Ahead of Merger He'll Help Regulate

President Trump made up to $51 million in corporate and municipal debt purchases at the end of the year, according to a financial disclosure form released by the White House.

The disclosure documented 191 financial transactions, including four purchases of Netflix and Discovery Communications bonds valued at up to $2 million combined. Those investments came after Netflix announced plans to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery's studio and HBO assets.

Trump has said he would be personally involved in regulatory decisions on whether to approve the proposed media deal—a transaction that could affect the value of bonds he now holds in both companies.
