Head-On Collision in Thousand Palms Results in Two Major Injuries

THOUSAND PALMS (CNS) - Authorities continued their investigation today
into a head-on collision in Thousand Palms that left two adults with major
injuries.
  

The crash was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday on Varner Road,
west of Cook Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
  

Officers determined that a Hyundai traveling eastbound on Varner Road
and a Toyota traveling westbound collided head-on for unknown reasons.
  

Two adult occupants were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in
Palm Springs.
  

Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a contributing factor in
the crash, according to CHP Officer David Torres.
