Barron Trump Called British Police After Alleged Assault, Court Hears
A British court has heard testimony that Barron Trump contacted police in London after witnessing an alleged assault on a woman during a video call, an action the victim says may have saved her life.
According to court proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Trump, who was 18 at the time, was on a video call with a female friend on January 18, 2025, when he became concerned for her safety. A transcript of his emergency call to British authorities was presented during the trial of Matvei Rumiantsev, who faces multiple charges including assault, rape, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice. Rumiantsev has denied all charges.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the court that Trump’s decision to call police helped prevent the situation from becoming fatal. British media quoted her as saying the call came at a critical moment during the alleged attack.
Jurors heard that Trump placed the call from the United States, telling police that a woman he knew appeared to be “getting beat up” and that the situation was an emergency. Court records show that investigators later contacted Trump to request a witness statement, which he provided via email.
In his statement, Trump said he briefly saw a shirtless man on the video call before the screen switched back to the victim, who told him she had been experiencing ongoing difficulties with the individual. Police confirmed that follow-up correspondence was sent, though no further response was received.
The trial is ongoing. CNN has reached out to the White House for comment.
