Palm Springs Temporarily Closes Downtown Parking Lot for Safety Improvements

The City of Palm Springs has announced a temporary closure of a city-owned parking lot located at the intersection of West Alejo Road and Belardo Road as part of a planned safety improvement project. According to Public Works officials, the lot will be closed from January 26 through February 1 to allow crews to complete necessary infrastructure upgrades.

City officials say the project is intended to address longstanding pavement problems that have affected the condition and safety of the parking area. Improvements are designed to enhance durability, safety, and overall usability for residents, visitors, and nearby businesses who regularly rely on the lot.

To minimize disruption, signage will be posted in advance of construction to inform drivers of the closure. The city is also working to notify local businesses, community organizations, and frequent users of the lot so they can plan accordingly during the construction period.

Public Works is encouraging drivers to plan ahead and utilize alternate parking options while the lot is temporarily unavailable. The city says the short-term inconvenience is necessary to ensure long-term improvements and a safer parking experience once the lot reopens.
