Walter Clark Legal Group Seeks Court Order to Halt Animal Euthanasia Practices in Riverside County

There is a major development tonight in the ongoing lawsuit against Riverside County Animal Services. The Walter Clark Legal Group has filed a motion for a preliminary injunction, asking the court to immediately intervene while the broader case continues.

The motion targets Riverside County Animal Services and former department director Aaron Geddes. Attorneys are requesting the court order the county to stop killing animals for space, provide proper medical treatment to animals in their care, halt the release of animals before they are spayed or neutered, and increase available kennel space.

According to the legal team, the request was filed after learning that what they describe as inhumane practices have continued during the litigation process. Attorney Walter Clark says the injunction is necessary to prevent further harm while the case is pending.

A newly assigned judge will consider the motion during a hearing scheduled for February 10th. Clark says his team hopes the case proceeds to trial, claiming there is significant evidence that Riverside County has misused taxpayer funds and failed to comply with state laws governing animal care.

The county has not yet responded publicly to the latest filing.
