American Idol Winner Abi Carter to Perform at BNP Paribas Open

American Idol winner and Coachella Valley local Abi Carter will perform at the BNP Paribas Open this year.  The world-renowned tennis tournament starts March 1, with Carter’s concert set for March 4 at the Village Stage

The concert marks a homecoming for Carter, who grew up in Indio and got her start busking on Coachella Valley streets as a teenager. Her run on American Idol's 22nd season drew praise from judges Katy Perry and Billie Eilish back in 2024.

"There's something special about playing a new venue in the place where I spent 22 years growing up," Carter said. "I'm so excited to reunite with the community that raised me at the BNP Paribas Open."

Since her Idol win, Carter has stayed busy. She headlined a packed show at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, performed on the Mane Stage at Stagecoach Festival, released her album "Ghosts in the Backyard," and completed a U.S. tour.

The BNP Paribas Open runs each March at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, drawing top players from around the world. NBC Palm Springs will be there to catch all of the action so stay tuned for that.
