Desert Theatricals Announces Eighth Season at Rancho Mirage Amphitheater
Desert Theatricals is preparing to launch its eighth season at the Rancho Mirage Amphitheater, continuing its mission of bringing large-scale musical theater and community-focused programming to the Coachella Valley.
Founders Josh Carr and Ray Limon say the upcoming season begins in March with a highly anticipated opening production that has been years in the making. While the title is being kept under wraps, the show is described as a big, high-energy musical set in Illinois and has already generated strong interest, with dinner tables nearly sold out weeks in advance. Dinner service for the performances will once again be provided by Wally’s Desert Turtle.
In April, the season continues with Cabaret, the classic Kander and Ebb musical known for its iconic songs and bold production numbers. Casting for both shows was recently completed, drawing performers not only from across the Coachella Valley but also from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and beyond. Carr and Limon say the mix of local and visiting talent continues to strengthen the overall quality of their productions.
Beyond its mainstage shows, Desert Theatricals runs an extensive youth theater program for children ages 7 to 17. The program, offered in partnership with the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory Foundation and the City of Rancho Mirage, is completely free for participants and audiences. The next youth production, Frozen, is already in development.
Desert Theatricals also operates a nonprofit foundation that awards annual scholarships to students from its youth program who plan to continue in the arts. The organization has already awarded several scholarships, helping former participants pursue higher education and professional training.
Tickets for all upcoming productions, including dinner theater and general admission seating, are available through the Desert Theatricals website.
