RAP Foundation Launches $1 Million Grant Initiative to Expand Mental Health Access in Coachella Valley

The RAP Foundation is unveiling a new $1 million grant initiative aimed at improving access to mental and emotional health services across the Coachella Valley. The funding will be awarded over the next two years, with $500,000 distributed annually to qualifying organizations.

The nonprofit is seeking proposals from tax-exempt nonprofits, community-based organizations, or collaborative groups that primarily serve low-income residents. Priority areas include expanding quality mental health care in remote communities, increasing public awareness of available services, and supporting culturally competent programs that reduce language barriers, stigma, and other obstacles to care.

Foundation leaders say they are especially interested in innovative and nontraditional approaches, such as extended evening or weekend hours, and programs that help residents better understand when and how they can access services.

A mandatory bidders meeting for interested applicants is scheduled for Thursday, February 5.
