Roadway Improvements Coming to Indio Boulevard; Drivers Urged to Expect Delays

Drivers in Indio should prepare for traffic impacts as roadway improvements begin next week along a busy stretch of Indio Boulevard.

From Tuesday, January 27th through March 31, construction will take place on the north side of Indio Boulevard between the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and Burr Street. The project includes installing new water lines, adding sidewalks and curbs, and widening sections of the roadway.

During construction, all westbound traffic on Indio Boulevard will be reduced to one lane. In addition, one of the two northbound turn lanes from Jefferson Street to westbound Indio Boulevard will be closed.

City officials are advising motorists to expect delays in the area, plan alternate routes when possible, and allow extra travel time during the construction period.

Drivers are encouraged to stay alert for construction signage and updates as work continues over the next several weeks.
