Indio: Jefferson Street & Indio Boulevard

A road improvement project at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Indio Boulevard has reduced traffic to one lane in each direction. Expect significant congestion. The project runs through the end of March, wrapping up before festival season. Recommended alternate routes to reach the freeway include Monroe Street or Washington Street.

La Quinta: Adams Street Paving

Crews are currently lowering utilities on Adams Street between Avenue 48 and Fred Waring, with work continuing through February. When major arterials are affected, use Jefferson Street, Washington Street, or Dune Palms Road for local trips.

Safety Tip: What to Do When Emergency Vehicles Approach

Palm Springs Police Lt. William Hutchinson joined this week's segment to clarify a common point of confusion: what to do when a fire truck or ambulance approaches while you're stopped at an intersection.

His advice: Pull to the right if you safely can. If you can't move, stay put—don't pull into the middle of a busy intersection. Emergency vehicles will use opposing lanes to get through. The priority is keeping everyone safe, not issuing citations.
