Pop, Crunch, and Drill: Monday's Hashtag Holidays Are a Wild Ride
Happy Monday, Coachella Valley! January 26th is serving up a quirky trio of holidays that range from satisfying to slightly terrifying.
First up: Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day! Here's a fun fact — bubble wrap was originally invented in 1957 as wallpaper. Yes, wallpaper. Thankfully, someone realized its true calling as both packaging material and the ultimate stress reliever. Go ahead, pop a few. You've earned it.
Next, sink your teeth (carefully) into National Peanut Brittle Day. This classic treat combines caramelized sugar, corn syrup, and nuts, all flattened into that signature crunchy sheet we know and love.
And speaking of teeth... it's also Dental Drill Appreciation Day. Compared to the slow-grinding drills of the 19th century, today's high-speed equipment is definitely something to be grateful for!
The word "drill" inspired this morning's pop quiz.
Question 1: A 1987 Stanley Kubrick film features R. Lee Ermey — a real-life former Marine drill instructor — as a harsh gunnery sergeant. Which movie is it?
A) An Officer and a Gentleman
B) Full Metal Jacket
C) Stripes
Question 2: Meat Loaf's 1978 album Bat Out of Hell features a song with these lyrics: "You'll never find your gold on a sandy beach. You'll never drill for oil on a city street." Which track is it?

B) Two Out of Three Ain't Bad
C) You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth
