71-Year-Old Cyclist in Critical Condition After Crash With Pickup Truck in Indio

A 71-year-old man is in critical condition following a serious bicycle crash involving a pickup truck in Indio on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the collision occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Monroe Street and Avenue 42. Officers arriving at the scene found the cyclist trapped beneath a Chevrolet Silverado. He suffered significant injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment.

The driver of the pickup, a 52-year-old man, was not injured and is cooperating fully with investigators.

The intersection was temporarily closed while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. It has since reopened to traffic.

Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released at this time.
