Amazon Announces New Round of Job Cuts Amid Company Restructuring

Amazon is cutting more jobs as part of its continued effort to restructure its operations and streamline costs. The company announced it is eliminating another round of positions across multiple departments, adding to previous layoffs in recent months.
According to company filings, Amazon employs millions of workers worldwide. While company leaders did not directly link the latest cuts to artificial intelligence, the layoffs come at a time when workers across the country are expressing concerns about how automation and AI may impact employment in a slowing labor market.
In October, Amazon previously reduced jobs primarily at the corporate level. The latest cuts suggest the company is continuing to reassess its workforce and long-term strategy amid changing economic conditions and consumer behavior.
In addition to workforce reductions, Amazon also announced plans to close some of its Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh physical retail locations. Several of these stores will be converted into Whole Foods Market locations as part of a broader shift in its brick-and-mortar retail strategy.
Company officials say the restructuring is aimed at improving efficiency and positioning Amazon for long-term growth. However, the job cuts highlight ongoing uncertainty within the tech sector as major companies adapt to evolving technologies and market demands.
