A 29-year-old Cathedral City resident was killed Wednesday night after rear-ending another vehicle at high speed on Cathedral Canyon Drive.

According to the Cathedral City Police Department, officers responded to the two-vehicle collision in the 35000 block of Cathedral Canyon Drive around 9:34 p.m. The investigation determined both vehicles were traveling northbound when the second vehicle struck the first from behind at a high rate of speed, causing it to overturn.

The driver of the striking vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants in the vehicle that was hit were not injured. Police say the deceased driver was at fault for the collision.
