Deputy Attorney General Says No New Epstein Charges, Defends DOJ Actions in Georgia Election Probe and Don Lemon Arrest

The U.S. Justice Department is signaling it will not bring additional charges connected to the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, according to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Blanche said federal officials have reviewed millions of pages of documents tied to Epstein and determined there is not enough evidence to prosecute anyone else. While acknowledging the materials contain disturbing content, Blanche said they do not meet the legal threshold required to file new charges.

Blanche also addressed questions surrounding Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who was present during an FBI search of the Fulton County elections office in Georgia. He said Gabbard is not part of the grand jury investigation and downplayed her role, emphasizing that the probe is being led by the FBI as part of broader efforts focused on election integrity.

The search is tied to allegations of voter fraud connected to the 2020 election — claims that federal officials have repeatedly said lack evidence.

In addition, Blanche defended the Justice Department’s decision to bring charges against former CNN anchor Don Lemon, who was arrested last week along with another journalist during a protest at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota. Critics have argued the case could infringe on press freedoms, but Blanche said prosecutors believe there was probable cause and that the matter will proceed through the court system.

He rejected suggestions that the arrest was politically motivated, noting that Lemon will have the opportunity to present his defense in court.

Blanche also addressed references to Donald Trump in the Epstein documents, saying many claims stem from anonymous or unverifiable sources. Trump has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged in connection with the Epstein case.
