DNI Tulsi Gabbard Put President Trump on Phone With FBI Agents After Fulton County Elections Office Search
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard placed President Donald Trump on the phone with FBI agents who conducted last week’s search of the Fulton County elections office in Georgia, according to sources familiar with the call.
The unusual interaction followed a controversial FBI operation in Fulton County, where agents executed a search warrant and seized hundreds of boxes of election materials tied to an ongoing investigation into alleged voter fraud from the 2020 election.
Sources say Gabbard met with the agents at the FBI’s Atlanta field office the day after the search. During that meeting, she contacted Trump and asked if he wanted to speak with the agents. The president reportedly offered brief words of encouragement, with Gabbard later stating in a letter to Congress that the call was meant simply to thank agents for their work.
In her correspondence to lawmakers, including Sen. Mark Warner and Rep. Jim Himes, Gabbard said her actions were within her legal authority and that neither she nor the president issued directives to investigators.
The FBI declined to comment on the call. Gabbard’s office provided her letter to Congress in response to media inquiries, while the White House has not issued a formal statement.
The search has prompted pushback from Fulton County officials, who have since announced plans to challenge the legality of the seizure of election records. The Justice Department has confirmed the matter is part of a criminal grand jury investigation.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche previously told CNN he did not believe Trump played a role in initiating the search, emphasizing that the investigation is tightly held under federal law. However, Blanche later said he had no issue with the president speaking directly with agents involved in the case.
The development underscores Trump’s continued focus on election integrity and comes amid renewed concern from Democratic election officials about potential federal involvement ahead of upcoming elections.
