Know Before You Go: Coachella Valley Road Work Update – Week of Feb. 2

If you're traveling through the Coachella Valley this week, here's what you need to know about ongoing construction projects.

South Palm Canyon Bridge Project – Palm Springs

Lane closures are coming Friday, Feb. 6, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on South Palm Canyon Drive. Crews will be paving over newly completed gas line work from just south of East Sunny Dunes Drive to just south of the bridge. Flaggers will guide traffic through one lane at a time—expect delays and consider alternate routes. Businesses in the area remain open during construction. The project is progressing toward a "Traffic Flip" in late February, when vehicles will shift to the new western bridge span so work can begin on the east side.

Indio Boulevard & Jefferson Street – Indio

Major road improvements have reduced traffic to one lane in each direction with concrete barriers in place. CV Sync Program Manager Kris Gunterson recommends using Monroe Street or Washington Street to reach the freeway, and Fred Waring Drive for east-west travel.

Adams Street Paving – La Quinta

Prep work is underway with full paving starting Feb. 10. Crews will work from outside lanes inward. Use Jefferson Street, Washington Street, or Dune Palms Road as alternates—especially near school drop-off areas at Black Hawk Way.
