Lindsey Vonn Says Ruptured ACL Won't Keep Her From Olympics

U.S. skiing star Lindsey Vonn announced she has a ruptured ACL in her left knee but plans to compete in the Winter Olympics, which begin competitions on Sunday.

The 41-year-old said she feels stable when skiing with a brace. The injury stems from her January 30 crash during a World Cup downhill race in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, when she lost control in difficult conditions and slid into the safety netting at high speed. She was airlifted off the mountain for evaluation and was visibly favoring her left knee afterward.

Vonn currently leads the World Cup downhill standings with two victories and three other podium finishes this season—a remarkable return to competition following a partial titanium knee replacement in her right knee.
