Palm Springs Seeks Resident Input on Neighborhood Parking Ahead of College of the Desert Campus Opening

Palm Springs is asking residents to weigh in on neighborhood parking challenges expected to worsen with the opening of a new College of the Desert campus.

The city is hosting a "Neighborhood Parking Solutions Meeting" Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Palm Springs Police Department Training Room, 200 S. Civic Drive. Officials are specifically inviting residents of the La Palme, Pointe, Vibe, and Sundial neighborhoods.

According to city officials, two factors are driving the anticipated parking crunch: rising airport parking rates already pushing more vehicles onto residential streets, and the upcoming College of the Desert campus, which will bring approximately 12,500 students and staff to the area.

Discussion will focus on street parking along Baristo Road between El Cielo and Farrell, and Civic Drive between Baristo and East Tahquitz Canyon Way. The city says it wants to hear concerns about parking access, safety, and sanitation, as well as recommendations for solutions.
